“When it comes to frame design, we take the lead from the art, not the environment. The goal is to bring the art to life – to take a piece to that next level.”

Known as the one who never says “it can’t be done,” Ted constantly challenges the status quo in frame design. He prides himself on keeping Junction Gallery one of the most innovative – often developing solutions that even our vendors haven’t used. The results are unique pieces that customers are proud to own.

Ted’s long history in art and framing began in the marketing department of a company who manufactured and distributed wall décor in Minneapolis. It was in that job that Ted first worked with artists in product development, learned the value of building strong vendor relationships and got involved with framing.

After moving to Peoria to start a different business in the mid 1990’s, Ted followed his love of art and bought Junction Gallery when it was offered for sale in early 1999.

The custom framing aspect of the business is where Ted applies his talent and experience. Since many of Junction Gallery’s design work relies on “out of the box” thinking, he becomes key in the collaboration -- designing, building and altering existing frames and materials to achieve a specific custom look.

“Art is very personal. I like to create pieces that suit our client’s personality and that they can be proud of for many years to come.”

With a BA in Comprehensive Design from Northern Illinois University, 20+ years in the business and a passion for photography and art, it’s no wonder April is an ideal partner for her clients.

In order to do her work well, April prides herself on getting to know clients so well that she can consistently create the kind of “wow” pieces that they expect. When it comes to unique items that need framing, tablescaping, even creating art through mirrors and shelves, her creativity expands to fit the situation. “We do things even our vendors haven’t heard of,” she says. “And that’s what our clients love about us – they want a creative approach that results in a piece that is uniquely ‘them.’”

Whether it’s for residential or commercial work, April brings her formal art training into play by considering all aspects of the architecture, tone, fabrics, overall design and client preferences.

An avid photographer, she enjoys working with children and families – always on location to serve as a backdrop to her unique pieces.

"I want clients to look at their finished pieces and smile. If it doesn't evoke a strong feeling, it probably shouldn't go home with you."

Karie’s love for art began as a child, but she became more serious about pursuing a career in art in high school. With a degree in Graphic Design from Illinois Central College, Karie quickly became enamored with painting and watercolors and soon developed her own unique watercolor techniques that became the basis of her work.

To stay “around art”, Karie got her first job in framing 12 years ago. With her background in art appreciation, color and design, it was a perfect fit. She relies on her creativity and trained eye to select visually pleasing solutions that will work for our clients.

Whether she’s working on a residential project to rejuvenate a client’s existing art or on a large commercial project with new art, Karie enjoys applying experience and knowledge to explore new ideas with framing materials.

Her interest as an artist hasn’t waned either. Karie continues to paint with watercolors, creating pieces for her growing list of clientele.
